Primary Responsibilities:
Technical leadership
- Oversee the deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of network, server, and storage infrastructure. Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Lead efforts to improve database performance, reliability, and data integrity, working closely with database administrators and engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement optimizations.
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing and managing SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and SQL server failover clustering for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Manage and continuously improve the end-user support function, ensuring timely resolution of issues and enhancing user satisfaction. Implement IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices in incident, problem, and change management.
- Ensure infrastructure and databases comply with security standards. Collaborate with our cybersecurity team to implement security measures, conduct vulnerability assessments, and ensure data protection.
- Work with key vendors for hardware, software, and infrastructure services. Manage procurement processes, negotiate contracts, and ensure SLAs are met.
People leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, including system administrators, database administrators, system engineers and end-user support staff. Set clear performance expectations and professional development plans.
- Effectively manage team resources, prioritizing and aligning tasks based on business needs, project timelines, and operational demands.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and facilitate growth opportunities to enhance technical skills and leadership capabilities.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and establish individual development plans. Recognize and reward high performance to maintain team motivation and engagement.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Serve as a liaison with software developers and other business areas to understand their technology needs, manage dependencies, and ensure alignment with infrastructure goals. Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders to address concerns and provide updates.
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Encourage team members to adopt best practices, share knowledge, and stay current with industry trends.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, Microsoft, Cisco) are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management or a related role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead position.
- Proven expertise in network administration, system architecture, database management, and end-user support. Familiarity with ITSM frameworks and tools, virtualization, and cloud technologies is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team effectively, with strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to analyze complex technical issues and provide sound recommendations and solutions.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
