Get to Know the Opportunity
The Infrastructure as Code Developer/Engineer is accountable for proactively and holistically leading or supporting IaC activities that create deliverables that guide technology investments in response to disruptive forces and toward achieving targeted business outcomes. It will include aspects of team leadership, practice development, hands-on development and coaching others in the organization. The right candidate will be an individual contributor and will need the ability to "see the big picture" and identify opportunities for technology advances.
The Contributions You'll Make:
- Tech lead team of Infrastructure as Code developers building end-to-end patterns for application deployment.
- Teach IaC skills and principles to front line engineering teams to build a broader base in IaC practices.
- Work cross-functionally with Technology, Security, Risk, and Compliance to achieve holistic solutions, not just automations.
- Help us achieve our goals of on-demand infrastructure and accelerate delivery to reduce time to value.
- Support business and technology innovation that drives the organization's top and bottom lines.
- Detail potential competitive threats from external challenges that are generally considered outside of your traditional realm of competition.
- Engage key business stakeholders to facilitate both strategy and innovation planning.
- Work with stakeholders involved in business technology strategy and innovation to develop an IT investment roadmap.
- Review the organization's business technology strategy and how the organization currently approaches innovation.
- Create deliverables that illustrate how to strategically move the business forward.
- Work with enterprise architecture to define a clear plan and governance for ensuring the business architecture work is in lock step with the other enterprise architecture viewpoints.
- Provide strategic consultation to assigned line-of-business (LOB) or business unit (BU) partners in defining or designing business capabilities, processes, functions and organizational structures, as well as in researching, identifying and internally marketing, selling and enabling technologies based on business and end-user requirements.
- Work on enterprise architecture development, including business architecture, information architecture, application portfolio and technical architecture.
- Facilitate agreement on organizational work models and processes to meet business requirements.
- Consult on business-facing programs and large projects, and maintain knowledge of their progress.
- Work with the enterprise program management office on reporting program and large project status, issues, risks and benefits.
- Seek ways to apply new technology to, and reuse existing technology for, business processes. Research and provide information on technical trends and competitors' practices relevant to assigned line-of-business (LOB) or business unit (BU) partners.
- Assess near-term needs, using structured interview processes, to establish business priorities. Consult with technical subject matter experts, and develop alternative technical solutions. Advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on other business processes and system priorities.
- Work with other IT functional areas to remain apprised of program and large project status, and inform line-of-business (LOB) or business unit (BU) partner management of progress. Conversely, keep IT's technology and service managers aware of key line-of-business (LOB) or business unit (BU) partner issues, identifying and resolving potential problems and conflicts.
Minimum Knowledge & Experience:
- Senior-level Infrastructure as Code position requiring deep understanding of Terraform development, with Azure experience preferred.
- Understanding of DevSecOps methodologies and systems thinking.
- Terraform, State management, resource imports, modules, configuration drift management, etc. 2 years minimum experience.
- Strong understanding of, and experience with, Terraform execution within the context of DevOps pipelines, with GitHub and Jenkins experience preferred.
- Experience with DevSecOps (CI/CD, automated deployments, continuous delivery, continuous deployment, multiple environments).
- Experience with Ansible, including an understanding of Ansible playbook and role development.
- Familiarity with development best practices, including secure code, module/composable code, DRY/YAGNI principles, concise and self-documenting code.
- Python experience a plus.
- Strong team-oriented person able to mentor more junior team members, and work with various project teams across the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information systems or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in solutions engineering and infrastructure/security architecture.
- 5+ years of business or IT experience with a direct responsibility for strategy formulation and/or translation, business analytics, and program management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.
- Former hands-on development experience with detailed understanding of the code dev discipline and lifecycle.
Compensation Pay Disclosure:
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.
The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
$111,150 - $165,110 USD
