Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IT Asset Manager to join their team. As the IT Asset Manager, you will play a critical role in managing the entire lifecycle of IT hardware assets across the organization, from procurement to disposition. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the IT Asset Management (ITAM) processes, ensuring the optimization and control of all IT assets to meet organizational needs and compliance standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of IT hardware assets, including acquisition, receiving, deployment, and disposal of devices such as end-user devices, servers, network devices, and AV equipment.
- Maintain and update the IT asset database (CMDB) to ensure accurate tracking and monitoring of assets throughout their lifecycle.
- Develop, document, and continuously improve IT Asset Management processes and procedures.
- Ensure assets are properly managed from procurement through to disposition, in compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices.
- Design and generate reports to monitor asset compliance and manage exceptions, ensuring prompt reconciliation of any discrepancies.
- Work closely with IT Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather specification and licensing information, maintain baseline data, and prepare for future hardware and licensing needs.
- Develop executive-ready process documentation and communicate IT asset management policies to various teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with university-wide goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent education and experience in the IT domain.
- 3+ Years of IT Asset Management experience with proven expertise in managing hardware assets and understanding of the full asset lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of IT asset management policies, procedures, and best practices (IAITAM certifications are preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with experience preparing process documentation and delivering presentations to various levels of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in creating efficiencies in asset tracking by leveraging monitoring and management tools.
- Ability to enforce adherence to ITAM processes, holding stakeholders accountable, and escalating issues when necessary.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow HAM/CMDB and a solid understanding of ITSM systems, especially ServiceNow.
- Experience working with vendors and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) for hardware asset management.
- Experience in higher education IT asset management is preferred.
