SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing direct patient care, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.
STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge and understanding of Employee Handbook.
- Carry out the meaning of the CSMD Mission and Vision statements.
- Practice a culture of safety to reduce or prevent risk of injury, claims, loss, or liability by utilizing the Risk Management and Infection Control Plan.
- Perform responsibilities with a high-quality standard to yield improved compliance, quality, and patient outcome measures by adhering to the Quality Improvement Plan.
- Be present and ready for work as scheduled.
- Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings, and community events.
- Work cohesively with team members.
- Provide for organization and maintenance of an effective system of medical care with emphasis on wellness and prevention of illness.
- Provide an effective communication link between the Chief Medical Officer and non-management employees of the medical department.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recommends and orders tests to determine the extent of an illness.
- Diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Perform at the level and within the privileges bound by the medical license.
- Communicate back to management the attitudes, suggestions, and complaints of employees in a constructive business manner.
- Lead and motivate the employees to do their jobs effectively and efficiently.
- Supervision of students.
- Assist in the orientation, training, and supervision of the Medical Department support staff.
- Lead by example holding themselves to the standards of conduct and performance that they command of peers and subordinates.
- Attend required organizational meetings and participation on internal committees.
- Meet or exceed annual productivity standards.
- Utilizes technology to create a more efficient and effective way of doing business.
- Maintain confidentiality of workplace information according to the policies and procedures of the institution.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.
REQUIREMENTS:
- EDUCATION:
Physician must be a graduate of an approved and accredited Medical School with an Infectious Disease focus/specialization.
- LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Infectious Disease Physician must be licensed to Practice Medicine in the State of Louisiana and possess a Medical School Diploma, Board Certification or Board Eligible and/or Residency Training Certificate. Federal DEA License and Louisiana State CDS license.
- JOB KNOWLEDGE:
The Physician must have excellent independent judgement and decision making skills relating to patient healthcare.
SUPERVISES:
Indirectly supervise Registered Nurse, License Practical Nurses, Medical Assistants, and all other medical staff employees.
