About the RolePosition Summary
This Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating all maintenance functions in a chemical manufacturing plant, including but not limited to, preventive, corrective and emergency work. This position is responsible for coordinating select safety and reliability activities. The Maintenance Supervisor shall direct maintenance associates and workflow processes, communicate with Operations on work status, and proper closure of work orders. This position will be responsible for managing approximately 12 technicians and completing regular performance evaluations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage and direct multiple crafts including mechanics, I&E technicians, PM/PdM technicians, contractors, and welders.
- Create a safe work environment and ensure all plant safety rules are followed, including permitted procedures such as Permit to Work, Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, etc.
- Ensure 100% compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations impacted by Maintenance & Reliability.
- Coordinate daily work-flow assignments to maintenance technicians, with an emphasis on predictive and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Ensures preventive, corrective, and scheduled maintenance is performed as planned.
- Assure equipment reliability to maximize process OEE.
- Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.
- Work with the Operations group to prioritize work orders for planning and scheduling.
- Generate weekly schedules and availability forecasts by craft.
- Coordinate and schedule work orders that require contract labor from the Planned Backlog.
- Ensure quality work order completion by maintenance technicians, including proper documentation. Inspect and audit completed work.
- Develop schedules for shutdown/Short Notice Outage Work.
- Facilitate daily and weekly maintenance scheduling and wrap-up meetings. Prioritize work assignments versus resources. Provide Operations with details from the completed work and review tomorrow's plan for proper Operations night notes (Equipment Preparation, Cleaning, Lockout, etc.)
- Complete regularly scheduled written performance reviews with maintenance technicians. Coach technicians based on department vision and guiding principles.
- Verify and approve completed maintenance associate timecards. Verify all time is properly confirmed to work orders.
- Create procedures and checklists that reflect maintenance best practices and continuous improvement.
- Assist with the department training programs. Identify training needs and verify training (safety and skills training) are completed in a timely manner.
- Work with Maintenance Planner to ensure scheduled jobs are properly staged.
- Report significant impacts to maintenance budget and schedule.
- Assists other departments with daily tasks or assignments where needed to promote good teamwork environment.
- Other duties, as required.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma / GED or equivalent level of education is required. College degree in engineering or related discipline is strongly preferred. Successful completion of Military, Industrial, and/or Technical School Program is desired.
- 5-7 years' experience in Industrial Maintenance Disciplines.
- 3-5 years of project engineering experience.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
- Proven track record as being effective in leadership, management, and with accomplishments therein.
- Planning and scheduling experience is desired.
- SAP experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and MS Project.
- Perform RCAs to solve equipment/system problems in a systematic, logical and expeditious manner.
- Must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team on a daily basis.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to effectively communicate with multiple levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership skills are essential.

- OSHA Training and Regulations.
- Read and understand P&ID and E&I drawings.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Process Hazards Analysis (PHA).
- Must have the ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to safely lift items weighing 55lbs.
- Must be physically and mentally able to wear all Personal Protective Clothing as required by the MSDS sheets on all chemicals located at Symrise facilities.
- Must be able to perform in outdoor weather in and around hazardous and/or unpleasant conditions for several hours if not all day.
