About the Job
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, this position will provide shift support for all mechanical technical problems that might arise with equipment as well as completing predictive and preventive maintenance work as determined by our SAP work order system. This position also acts as a subject matter expert regarding mechanical components of plant equipment for Kaizen events.

- Follow all safe work practices and procedures. Wear all prescribed personal protective equipment. Ensure all proper lockout/tag out procedures are followed.
- Conduct daily safety risk assessments on routine and non-routine job tasks.
- Install, remove, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair a wide variety of mechanical equipment and components related to the facilities and equipment used in manufacturing process.
- Work from blueprints, sketches, samples, and written or verbal instructions to disassemble, assemble, install, adjust, or repair machinery and equipment.
- Detect & report faulty material, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment.
- Perform other duties as required to maintain or improve plant reliability.
Required Qualifications:
- Possess High School Diploma or GED equivalency
- 5 or more years of experience working as a mechanic in a fast-paced, continuous manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience using control and regulating devices to adjust and maintain industrial equipment
- Welding, fabrication, and carpentry skills
- Demonstrated skill in working with pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Must be able to safely operate mobile equipment
- Ability to use hand tools
- Must be able to work in non-heated and non-air conditioned environments
- Must possess basic computer skills for email & required reports
- Ability to pass basic mathematics, reading, locating information and technology comprehension assessments
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work weekends
- Self-starter who can function in a semi-autonomous environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in the pulp and paper industry
- Licensed journeyman millwright
- Previous experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP
- Must be able to climb in, on and around industrial machinery (conveyors, catwalks, dryers, etc.)
- The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, with the ability to hear and verbally communicate.
- Must be able to use body to work, move or carry objects or materials up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Move up and down flights of stairs
