U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated building maintenance services company, is currently accepting resumes for the position of Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at our Benjamin Harrison Bridge, Richmond, Virginia location. The qualified candidate will provide servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical and electrical principles. Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events. scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others
Responsibilities
- Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and equipment, using handtools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments:
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
- Starts devices to test their performance.
- Lubricates and cleans parts.
- May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
- May initiate purchase order for parts and machines.
- May repair electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Provides Preventive maintenance service to machinery, generators, etc.
- Provides daily and weekly inspection reports of equipment
- Required to be on call as needed
Knowledge and Experience
- Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance, Technical Understanding, Technical trouble shooting, Deals with Uncertainty, Basic Safety, Power Tools, Attention to Detail, Flexibility, Supervision, Job Knowledge, Productivity
Education/Training
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, computer training with Microsoft office background
- Technical training; exposure to high-speed equipment.
- 3 + years of related experience in Movable Bridges Operations/Maintenance or related mechanical maintenance
Licenses, Certifications, Requirements
- CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire.
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
- OHSA Certification
- Possession of a valid driver's license is a requirement for this job.
Working Conditions
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
- Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
