SUMMARYResponsible for the production or services of the department or area, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical/electrical equipment such as motors, conveyor systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, production machines, HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, extractors, fractionators, homogenizers, material handling equipment, bulk delivery equipment, blending/mixing systems. Leads, coaches, and provides effective feedback for Maintenance team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Supervises, directs, and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
- Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations; identify problems ensures repairs are completed with minimal downtime.
- Ensures inventory of spare parts for all department equipment. Ensures spares are accounted for in collaboration with the maintenance coordinator.
- Develops preventive maintenance programs and policies to ensure safety of all equipment and machinery.
- Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
- Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
- May work with outside vendors and contractors in the execution of maintenance work.
- Ensures work areas are kept in clean and hygienic condition.
- Implements workplace safety policies and standards.
- Responsible for the unit/department for budgets, schedules and planning. May set direction for a major, multi-functional unit or department.
Requirements
Skills/ Knowledge:Must have advanced understanding of facilities equipment and machines in a manufacturing environment. Prior supervisory experience and extensive expertise of knowledge in the specified area required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the leadership team. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis. Contributes to the development of the department. Recognizes, initiates, and leads improvement activities. Requires considerable judgment, tact, discretion, and initiative. Requires professional demeanor and a strong business acumen.
Education:High School Diploma required. Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering disciplines preferred or a combination of education and experience with a minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience.
Computer Skills:The ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, and internal software programs).
