About the Job
Position Objective
The primary purpose of this role is to lead the planning, design, and implementation of Corporate Industrial Hygiene and Loss Control programs to ensure compliance with applicable state, federal, and organizational regulations, policies, and procedures. This position provides expert technical support to multiple locations and plays a significant role in supporting the organization's Product Stewardship Program across all product lines.
Key Responsibilities
Hazard Identification, Anticipation, and Evaluation
- Conduct workplace hazard identification through site inspections and process analysis.
- Recognize and assess chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic stressors.
- Perform exposure assessments, recommend control measures, and establish industrial hygiene programs.
Program Development and Implementation
- Recommend and implement engineering controls to mitigate workplace hazards at the source.
- Establish administrative controls, including work practices, job rotations, and exposure monitoring.
Compliance and Reporting
- Participate in internal audits to enhance safety monitoring procedures.
- Review operations to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of exposure assessments, control measures, and employee training.
- Prepare detailed reports on hazards and exposure levels.
- Serve as a technical representative for national industry associations, as needed.
Training, Support, and Education
- Provide regulatory support for Maintenance and Operations teams.
- Develop and deliver employee training on workplace hazards, safe practices, and proper PPE usage.
- Educate management on industrial hygiene practices and regulatory compliance.
Total Housekeeping Maintenance (THM)
- Promote cleanliness and order through initiatives like the "Nothing Touches Ground" and "No Visual Pollution" programs.
Qualifications
Technical Requirements
- Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial hygiene within the petrochemical or oil refining industries.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in industrial hygiene analytical and detection equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and related organizational systems.
- Certifications/Training:
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (required).
- Radiation Safety Officer (preferred).
- Potable Water Operator Class D (preferred).
- Must complete organizational policy and procedure training post-hire.
