Job Description
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Industrial Hygienist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
As part of this role, you could have the opportunity to:
• Work on comprehensive industrial hygiene programs to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards.
• Conduct industrial hygiene assessments including exposure monitoring, hazard evaluations, and risk assessments.
• Develop and implement strategies and control measures to mitigate occupational health risks and prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate industrial hygiene principles into organizational policies, procedures, and practices.
• Stay knowledgeable of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in industrial hygiene and occupational health to continuously improves programs and initiatives.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Preferred Skills
- Certified Industrial Hygienist certification.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in 29 CFR 1910 and/or 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA), as well as national safety consensus standards (ANSI, NFPA).
- Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring equipment.
- Experience interacting with a diverse workforce including engineers, skilled tradespersons, scientists, and technicians.
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills.

Pay Range

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
