About the Job
An Industrial Hygienist will perform industrial hygiene activities including qualitative and quantitative IH/safety surveys, air sampling/monitoring, and noise and indoor air surveys. He/she shall perform industrial hygiene activities including, but not necessarily limited to, conducting air sampling, noise surveys, review of MSDS and preparation and/or review of site-specific health and safety plans. In performing such duties, an Industrial Hygienist will provide data management and evaluation support to CTEH project managers in the areas of industrial hygiene, toxicology, litigation support, risk assessment, and emergency response. Utilizing his/her knowledge of various scientific disciplines, he/she may collect, study, report, and take actions based on data derived from measurements or observations of air, food, soil, water, and other sources. The successful candidate will apply scientific methodology for analysis of risk assessments and industrial hygiene applications to ensure the client's expectations are met. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to manage and project with minimal guidance and provide training to IH, IHI and IHII employees as directed. All Industrial Hygienists shall maintain a response bag with the required PPE and appropriate clothing and be subject to on-call rotation to assist in emergency response operations and travel as needed.

- Ability to understand the basic industrial hygiene concepts of and explain (with minimal guidance from a Project IH or Senior IH) the advanced concepts of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling hazards to workers, the general public and the environment
- Perform (with minimal guidance) industrial hygiene activities, including, but not limited to, qualitative and quantitative IH/safety surveys, air sampling/monitoring, noise surveys, review/preparation of MSDS, indoor air quality surveys, and preparation/review of project- or site-specific health and safety plans
- Perform (with minimal guidance) environmental assessments, to include surface soil and surface wipe sampling
- Provide data management and evaluation support to CTEH project managers in the areas of IH, toxicology, litigation support, risk assessment and emergency response with minimal direction
- Understand and explain the basic and with minimal guidance, the advanced concepts of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling hazards to workers, the general public, and the environment
- Demonstrable ability to solve problems and make accurate and informed decisions regarding IH and safety with minimal guidance
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a matrix reporting structure
- Ability to locate, understand and explain (with minimal guidance) the basic concepts of relevant OSHA regulations, other occupational health and safety standards and guidelines, including those of the ACGIH
- Ability to locate and understand the advanced concepts of relevant OSHA regulations, other occupational health and safety standards and guidelines, including those of the ACGIH; and, with minimal guidance from a Project IH or Senior IH, explain such concepts
- Demonstrates the ability to successfully complete a project with minimal guidance from a Project IH or Senior IH.
- Ability to calibrate and operate standard IH equipment
- Ability with minimal guidance to explain the concepts of each piece of IH equipment
- Ability to select appropriate industrial hygiene testing equipment to meet project needs
- Maintain active involvement in industry and/or professional organizations, keeping current on new ideas and techniques within the field of industrial hygiene
- Demonstrable ability (with minimal guidance) to solve problems and make accurate and informed decisions
- Ability to function as an Emergency Response Team member and remain ready and available for emergency response upon client request,
- Ability to travel frequently and sometimes on extended durations
- Demonstrate a professional attitude toward clients, customers, and co-workers to reflect favorably on the company; and,
- Maintain compliance with the company's environmental, health, and safety policies and all applicable client, state, federal, and local environmental rules, policies and regulations; and

- Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene or safety; or,
- Bachelor's degree in a related science field (chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, toxicology, etc.)
