Primary Function:
Manage the New Product Development (NPD) process and related activities, and manage routing development for all products.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Manage the NPD process and following activities:
- Facilitate NPD meeting on a daily basis (Plan)
- Verify information entered by sales
- Determine Engineering time needed, Actions required, testing methods appropriate for the complexity and EAU (Do)
- Understand and update NPD sheet(s) as needed
- Develop NPD sheets for areas as needed, to help determine labor requirements
- Work with Engineers and Team Leaders to develop/update standard data used in NPD process.
- Facilitate NPD meeting on a daily basis (Plan)
- Collaborate with production team to validate/investigate quality of NPD outputs by following up on job builds and comparing against NPD times. (Check)
- Work with Engineering group to improve builds to match standard data times (Act)
- Manage Re-NPD activities for current parts using Trello system
- Work with production to determine which parts need to be redone through NPD process
- Gather pertinent data (old NPD, new NPD, build times, build issues)
- Analyze data and determine if time changes are needed.
- Send new info to Sales to update engineering workbench.
- Facilitate Production Readiness Reviews (PRR) as necessary.
- Understand why the PRR was needed (info from NPD)
- Document and assign actions to take from PRR
- Follow up with parties to verify assigned actions are complete
- Responsible for Routings
- Create part routings based on NPD information
- Adjust routings on current products based on capability changes on production floor
- Monitor Trello cards for routing change requests from production
- Follow all safety procedures to ensure proper safety guidelines are meeting or exceeding expectations.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree in related field is preferred
- Previous Engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred
- Ability to problem solve within parameters of company policies and procedures; identify opportunities to improve efficiencies
- Must have a positive attitude with a customer appreciation mentality
- Highly organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Solid computer skills
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including overtime if needed
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis; ability to stand, sit and move around the facility, varying amount
