The role of the Industrial Engineer is focused on optimizing manufacturing performance to ensure the highest quality product is made at the lowest cost and inventory levels with the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform continuous improvement assignments and complete projects to improve operating performance and reduce waste, delays, and costs
- Improve current plant and equipment layout and generate layouts for future expansion
- Improve material flow, material handling, and/or fabrication methods
- Research and implement changes based upon leading edge technologies and engineering principles
- Generate engineering time standards to support the standard cost system for both labor and material
- Participate and support new product development activity
- Conduct time studies and make recommendations for process efficiency improvement
- Facilitate and lead rapid improvement events in machining and assembly operations that maximize material, equipment, information, and personnel productivity
- Manage capital projects inclusive of specification, justification, installation, acceptance, and validation
- Develop documentation of overall Continuous Improvement activities including accomplishments, participation, projected activities, and anticipated need
- Support cost reduction projects using DMAIC Lean Six Sigma Methodology and other Lean Manufacturing Skill Sets
- Develop and drive cost reduction projects to improve company profitability
- Supports Production, Quality Assurance, Tool Designers, Engineers, Purchasing, Accounting, Sales, and other relevant departments
- Performs other duties as required

- Skilled in identifying the root cause in automation technologies by using sensing, measurement, handling etc. and delivering timely solutions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, PLC Programming, Drive Software, and HMI Programming
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- The physical environment requires the employee to occasionally work in a climate controlled manufacturing environment.
- Ability to be punctual and attend work on a regular and consistent basis
- The person in this position needs to wear appropriate safety clothing and shoes when needed. This includes a need for safety glasses, gloves etc.
- Must be able to stand for most of the day which equates to 90% of the time
- Occasionally will be expected to lift material not to exceed 40 pounds
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering with 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Six Sigma or Lean Master Certification
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Experience with industrial systems, drafting, and design work is preferred
- Must be able to incorporate safety in all projects
