Industrial Construction Manager - E&I at IFG

E/I Construction Manager is primarily responsible for planning and coordination of various construction field execution activities with the electrical and instrumentation discipline. Position requires development of all technical documentation required to execute construction field installation activities to include work instructions, permits, etc.

These activities will include involvement in procurement, fabrication, installation, modification, maintenance, and testing of various system components. This position also involves oversight of all field installation activities including inspections and problem resolution which requires extensive interface and coordination with Design Engineering, Quality Control, Procurement, Start-up/Testing and Safety. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Continuously supervise the quality of field installation while maintaining the safety of the contractors by performing field inspections and walk downs with craft supervision.
• Coordinate with the E&I Contractor and track installation progress to identify any schedule deviations as well as making necessary plan adjustments and/or taking necessary countermeasures.
• Develop installation sequence and generate work instructions, as well as prepare inspection and test records.
• Identify and resolve field installation issues or concerns and conflicts with other systems.
• Assess and evaluate change orders while managing the costs of electrical contractors.
• Assist in managing cost and schedule for equipment delivery, shipping, receiving, and storage.
• Oversight of control equipment installation and wiring installation practices as well as testing and powering of control panels and lighting circuits.
• Support design review meetings and review/assemble bid documents and information, attend/chair project schedule meetings.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of a combination of field and office experience. 
• Experience working with manufacturing customers in a variety of settings.
• Must be able to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents.
• Ability to estimate panel assembly and wiring costs.
• Familiarity with all components related to electrical and control system panels as well as Class I Division 2 applications.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our small-firm culture is a must, along with a tolerance for ambiguity.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position oversees and coordinates the activities of the electrical contractors on the jobsite of assigned projects and is responsible for the performance management of the jobsite.

Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee is required to frequently inspect the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must also occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.  

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are specific to each project. Some flexibility in hours may be allowed as projects permit. This position may require long hours and often requires weekend work depending on project demands.
