As the Industrial Automation Technician, you'll work closely with our Engineering, Maintenance and Production teams to install, maintain and troubleshoot the electronic and mechanical equipment used in the production of Nordic Ware products. This role combines technical expertise with a hands-on approach to ensure optimal equipment performance and production efficiency.
What you will get to do:
- Installation: Assist with installation, configuration, and replacement of automation systems at key points in the production process.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and production disruptions.
- Automation Support: Provide technical support for industrial automation systems, including PLC programming, HMI interfaces, and robotic systems.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and best practices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including engineering staff, to support manufacturing operations.
- Equipment Evaluation: Evaluate the performance of existing equipment and recommend upgrades or replacements to improve efficiency, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
- Process Innovation: Identify opportunities for process improvements through the introduction of new technologies or techniques.
- Other: Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Technical or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or automation required.
- Experience working in metals, plastics molding or chemical coating industries preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills, including proficiency in troubleshooting and repair.
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including PLC programming and HMI interfaces.
- Experience in Programming C++, Java, Basic, PLCs, preferred.
- Experience with Machine Shop Fabrication, lathes, welding, drill press preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to become certified to safely operate a forklift and other heavy equipment.
