Summary/Objective
This position is responsible for integrating logic controls & safety circuits to all equipment.
About the Role
In this role the Industrial Automation Technician will perform, but not limited to:
- Create, store, modify, debug, new PLC programs for Huron custom built machinery as well as optimize existing PLC programs to improve productivity and/or reduce downtime
- Backup critical data (program parameters, driver parameters, etc.) from purchased equipment (CNC benders, CNC machining centers, etc.)
- Maintain PLC's, HMI's, programmable devices (cameras, sensors, encoder, robots, pressure-decay equipment, etc.)
- Maintain and design CAD wiring plans/panel layout for Huron built machines and provide wiring schematics to the Toolroom, and test / troubleshoot new equipment
- Provide assistance to Toolroom, Maintenance, and Setup in trouble shooting machine issues across the shop
- Investigate and implement new technologies that will improve quality, reduce cost, etc. (sensors, cameras, robots) and assist in the selection of electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic machine components. Robot setup and program new and current cells
- Participate in Concept Review meetings to advise CAD design or Engineering with proper camera and sensor selection and in Quality/8d meetings, to offer suggestions and solutions.
Leadership and Management Competencies
- Work well in a team situation as well work effectively on their own (self-starter)
Key Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, etc. or equivalent work experience
- Strong communication skills, working with multiple departments.
- CAD experience (preferred)
Technical Qualifications
- Fluent with programming and trouble shooting logic controllers, as in Mitsubishi & Allen Bradley. Be able to install and integrate mechatronic components such as safety circuits, and monitoring devices.
Physical demands:
- Will be required to work midnight shift
- Will be required to work extended hours
Travel required: <10%
