Position: Industrial Automation Engineer
Inceed has partnered with a great company to help find a skilled Industrial Automation Engineer to join their team!
This role is a unique opportunity for an experienced engineer to oversee and support critical automation and control systems projects across multiple facilities, focusing on a range of upgrades and maintenance for automation/control systems in a liquid storage terminal setting. The engineer will leverage their expertise to lead the planning, design, and implementation of control systems migrations and serve as the primary technical authority for automation processes. This is a hands-on position that offers diverse responsibilities and the opportunity to work in a dynamic, safety-conscious environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise for automation/control systems and instrumentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.
- Act as the primary technical liaison between terminal operations and engineering or customer personnel, managing communication on all automation-related technical matters.
- Lead the transition from legacy PLC systems to Emerson DeltaV DCS and SIS systems, taking ownership of project technical planning and monitoring the lifecycle of these systems.
- Ensure the maintenance and lifecycle management of all control systems, adhering to established service level agreements and quality standards.
- Develop control system schematics, such as Control System Block Diagrams/System Architecture, Network Diagrams, I/O Lists, wiring diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
- Participate in safety and hazard analysis reviews, offering insights on instrumentation and control considerations.
- Facilitate meetings between automation teams and operations/maintenance to align project specifications with operational needs and industry standards.
- Assist with the development of project scopes, proposals, and cost estimates, supporting justification for project investment.
- Oversee vendor selection, bid evaluations, and progress monitoring, ensuring alignment with project scope, facility standards, and timeline requirements.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 6-8 years of experience in automation, instrumentation, and process controls, ideally within the petrochemical, refining, or oil & gas industries.
- Proven expertise with Emerson DeltaV DCS, SIS systems, and Rockwell PLC hardware and software is required. Wonderware experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of ISA 88, ISA 95, IEC61511 standards, and industry codes.
- Proficiency in terminal operations processes and project management principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical plans to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience:
- Advanced degree in a technical or business-related field.
- Familiarity with major Tank Gauging Systems and industry standards.
- Knowledge of OT cybersecurity and IT/OT convergence principles.
