About the Job
As the Industrial Application Engineer you will provide technical expertise to assist customers in the use of Yaskawa products and services to improve their application and automation capabilities. Interface closely with sales, product marketing, engineering peers, management, and other staff to acquire orders and address customer needs. Provide timely assistance to Product Marketing, Product Development, and Product Engineering on product release and product promotion collateral requirements. Provide mentoring support to fellow application engineers.
Qualification:
• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering discipline with proven aptitude in electromechanical work environment.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of supporting and applying PWM variable frequency drives in industrial applications.
• Knowledgeable and experienced in process automation solutions with focus in AC Drive and electromechanical control areas.
• Moderate understanding of a variety of applications with ability to define general operating principles and modes of operation of associated machinery.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Simplorer, and LTspice.
• Serial communications and network protocol experience including Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, and BACnet is highly desirable.
• Moderate understanding of peripheral products commonly associated with drives including motors, contactors, circuit breakers, reactors, relays, enclosures, filters, wiring, PLCs, and others.
• General understanding of utility distribution systems with ability to identify and explain differences and advantages of various configurations.
• Experience with various motor types including induction, permanent magnet, and other synchronous motor types with knowledge of speed vs. torque curves,
• General knowledge of associated Drive standards including applicable sections of NEC, UL, CSA, NFPA-70E, EN61800, EN61508, IEEE519, NEMA, and others.
• Strong working knowledge of field test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, amp probes, chart recorders, data acquisition, etc.) with moderate hands-on experience.
