Job Overview:

Pharmaron (San Diego) is seeking to hire an outstanding candidate to join our Ophthalmology department at the Research Associate I, II, or III level. This position involves supporting critical in vivo studies for ophthalmology programs, contributing to advancements in ophthalmology research. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with laboratory animals, biological specimen collection, and test substance administration.

Depending on your level of experience I, II or III Additional tasks:

• administration of test substances by various basic methods (i.e., oral gavage, SQ, IV, ID, etc.) and topical ocular dosing in multiple species.
• Manage and observe animals for general health and overall wellbeing.
• Collection of biological specimens (i.e., blood from appropriate vessels from all species of laboratory animals at the site).
• Perform study related activities in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (GLPs), study protocols, and company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Review documentation to ensure functions performed meet quality control requirements.
• Handle, restrain, and provide care for all species of laboratory animals at the site.
• Perform study preparation activities, including collection tube labeling and room setup.
• Performed Intraocular Pressure (IOP) measurements (Pneumatonometer/Tonovet).
• Handle and holding animals for imaging work.
• Perform necropsies and tissue collection.
• Assist surgeon in Operating Room.
• Perform and monitor animals for anesthesia and analgesia.
• Perform post-operative monitoring and anima recovery.
• Perform catheter placements in small and large animals.
• Interface with different teams, including study director, principal investigator, QC/QA, and Account Managers/Sales.
• Maintain accurate records in various internal databases: eQCM, Provantis, Vivarium +.
• Support internal research projects to optimize service.
• Perform aseptic techniques and other duties as directed by Management.

What We're Looking For:

• In Vivo Research Associate I: Associate degree in veterinary technology with 1-2 years of experience, or BS with 1 year of experience.
• In Vivo Research Associate II: Associate degree in veterinary technology with 3 years relevant experience, or BS with 2 years of experience.
• In Vivo Research Associate III: Associate degree in veterinary technology with 4 years relevant experience, or BS with 3 years of experience.
• A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered for this role
• We're seeking individuals who have strong communication skills with attention to detail who thrive in fast-paced environments.
• Background in lab animal (in vivo) research is a Working knowledge of preclinical techniques and modalities will be a plus.
• Position requires good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to adapt to a dynamic team environment.

The hourly rate for In Vivo Research Associate I: $24 - $28

The hourly rate for In Vivo Research Associate II: $28 - $32

The hourly rate for In Vivo Research Associate III: $32 - $35
