About the Job
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
- Receive shipping documents from overseas factories and confirm accurate item, purchase order information; Ensure import documentation is submitted to customs brokers for ocean and air shipments
- Check status of shipments and ensure customs and freight is cleared. Track shipments for delivery to warehouse
- Calculate final landed costs including all FOB, freight, and duties using excel spreadsheets.
- Assists in Ocean Import shipping and transportation processes
- Familiar with import customs laws into the US, and be able to understand and obtain POA for correct entity to expedite clearance and delivery.
- Select routing solutions for customer’s needs and be able to determine best routing options to international destinations based on service level
- Track and monitor all scheduled shipments, including calling or emailing customers with POD’s
- Advise customers of delays on their shipment; including flight delays, flight cancellations, missed connections, etc.
- Provide quotes for transportation charges to customers on request
- Escalate service issues to management
- Must be familiar with INCO Terms and understand the impact it has on financial responsibilities
- Able to read dimensions provided, and calculate chargeable weight for domestic and international shipments
- Responsible for submitting reports as required
- Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers; advise of shipment details.
- Complete documentation for receipt of shipments, or review documentation to correctly process shipments.
- Process documents through the appropriate system in a timely manner to ensure compliance with established deadlines.
- Secure necessary documentation when incomplete information is provided; may involve more limited or first reviews.
- Trace key transaction information (HBL, commercial invoice, and other required documents) to determine if available. Index and create tracking files to initiate clearance process, once documents are received.
- Follow-up with carriers, manage pre-alerts daily, and maintain record of all communications in files.
- Assist in coordination and communication of release to carrier, internal or external customer.
- Performs other duties as assigned;

- Quick learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain focus, and adapt to a variety of challenges
- Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize
- Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and must be very detail oriented
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong Problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office applications experience)
- 2-3 years’ experience in Logistics preferred
