General Summary:
The Imaging Manager oversees, recruits, retains, orients and trains personnel qualified to carry out their duties. The Imaging Manager performs CT/MRI examinations on patients of all ages for the purpose of assisting in the diagnosis of patient illnesses. Maintains equipment according to specifications.

Job Standards:
- Education: Recommended graduate of two (2) year radiographic education program.
- Licensure: Registered ARRT - RT ( R ), recommend - CT/MR.
- Experience: Three ( 3 ) years CT/MR experience preferred.
- Special Skills: Must have the ability to work quickly in an orderly fashion. Must be able to work well under stress. CPR certification preferred upon hire. Ability to start and maintain peripheral IV lines.
- Physical Abilities: Will be assisting with transferring of patients/large pieces of equipment (requiring ability to frequently lift 40 lbs). Will be sitting the majority of the day.
- Mental Abilities: Must have the ability to follow directions accurately. Must also offer reassurance to patient as necessary to complete CT/MR exam.
- Dexterity: Frequent repetitive motions of hands/wrists involved.
- Working Conditions: Will be working in a clean subdued lighted area. May be required to deal with unpleasant situations resulting from patient care or patient activity.
- Hazards and Risks: Exposure to ionizing radiation. Exposure to electromagnetic field and radio frequency. Direct patient contact with possible exposure to communicable disease, blood and body fluids. Exposure to computer screen.
- Initiates the development, implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures for BHIC.
- Reviews and proposes updates for policy and procedure changes on an annual basis.
- Oversees, recruit, retain, orient and train personnel qualified to carry out their duties at a level that will assure the maintenance of BHIC’s standards of service, quality and performance.
- Supervises staffing assignments as necessary. Utilizes personnel efficiently. Participates in staff development.
- Schedules or delegates the scheduling of staff meetings and staff education and documentation of same.
- Performs the periodic appraisal of each individual’s job performance based on current, approved job description; responsible for merit raises, promotions and disciplinary actions within their staff.
- Develops and maintains positive community image for the facility. Participates in building relationships with referring providers and other marketing activities to grow patient volumes.
- Responsible for directing the maintenance of adequate supplies and equipment. Assures cost-effective utilization of supplies and equipment.
- Follows preventative maintenance guidelines and ensures proper maintenance of all equipment. Works with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical failures.
- Oversees quality improvement program necessary to maintain facility accreditation.
- Seeks assistance from the Medical Director, Radiology or other appropriate resources in solving clinical problems.
- Seeks input quarterly from Medical Director, Radiology on radiation safety.
- Communicates BHSH ionizing radiation equipment acquisition and retirement to the S.D. Dept. of Health providing information needed to update and maintain Radiology License.
- Coordinates the scheduling of the medical physicist’s annual visit to BHSH.
- Responsible for the dosimetry badge distribution, collection for processing, review of the report and maintaining the dosimetry report records.
- Performs ordered CT/MR examinations of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of Radiologist.
- Under guidance and approval of Radiologist, administer contrast agents according to specific protocols.
- Positions patients on the scanner surface in order to facilitate the performance of CT/MR examination.
- Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during the CT/MR examination.
- Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in company sponsored training programs.
- Knows basis principles of CPR and directs care of patient in cardiac arrest or emergency situation.
- Maintains a clean environment.
- Completes necessary administrative tasks, i.e.: payroll records, productivity reports, patient logs, census reports, operational dashboards, and any applicable maintenance records.
- Cooperates with facility healthcare personnel and complies with facility policies and procedures.
- Complies with Federal and State laws and regulations, and BHSH’s compliance program, policies and procedures.
- Attends required meetings and participates on committees as directed.
- Maintains a professional image at all times.
- Flexibility in hours, on-call and in working in different areas of BHIC. Maintains consistent attendance.
- Provides and maintains good interpersonal relationships within own and other departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
