Job Description:
• Emphasis is on Image Development and Maintenance using SCCM with OSD.
• This position is to perform Image Development services utilizing a combination of Microsoft tools including MDT and SCCM/OSD in support of a major Client client deploying the Windows 7 and Windows 10 Operating Systems.
• The position requires a candidate with SME (subject matter expert) level knowledge of desktop Operating System Deployment processes, Image Development, configuration and use of MDT, SCCM OSD, USMT, design and administration of Microsoft SCCM (all versions) in an enterprise, and SCCM based reporting.
• The role is for an onsite resource working full time as a member of our team providing both consultative and technical image development services.
Day to Day Activity and Skills Needed:
• This individual will provide Image Development and Image updates as a member of our Endpoint Management Organization outsourced services team.
• He/she will be responsible for developing and testing desktop and laptop images for customer's enterprise, consistent with best practices.
• The individual will utilize Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and Microsoft SCCM as primary tools for creating and delivering complex desktop images that support a wide variety of desktop and laptop models in a large enterprise.
• Desktop OS Image preparation – Must be highly experienced in building standardized desktop images suitable for automated deployment on disparate hardware platforms using an enterprise systems management platform. Tasks will include OS build, driver package preparation, deployment preparation, writing/editing/troubleshooting task sequences, QC, and documentation.
• Windows 10 Image and/or Deployment Knowledge – Strong knowledge of Windows 10 operating system, deployment practices, and new capabilities.
• Desktop support experience – Highly skilled troubleshooting OS level stability and performance issues on desktop/laptop equipment. Must be process driven and requires diligent use of ticketing and documentation systems and processes in performing tasks.
• Automated Image Deployment - Experience in preparing images for automated deployment using Microsoft SCCM and OSD.
• Tasks will include customization of .MSI files, task sequencing, building of configuration scripts, deployment testing, and image documentation.
• Automated Software Package Deployment - Experience in preparing standard software suites (Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, etc.) for automated deployment using Microsoft SCCM.
• Tasks will include customization of .MSI files, building of configuration scripts, deployment testing, and package documentation.
• Requires use of advanced knowledge of the Windows Setup process for Windows 7.
• Strong scripting skills using VBScript and PowerShell.
• Deep understanding of desktop operating system Windows 7 in 32 and 64 bit formats and Windows 10 OS, and performing regression testing against image builds.
• Understand Group Policy Objects (GPO), Local Policy Objects (LPO) and their impact on system configuration.
• Fundamental understanding of security components & technologies such as firewalls and anti-virus policies.
• Knowledge and use of the Preboot Execution Environment (PXE).
• Knowledge and use of the tools in the Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK).
• Microsoft SCCM 2012 OSD (Operating System Deployment) technical experience is required
• Windows 7 / 10 technical support experience with advanced knowledge of the Windows registry, file and folder security, local/domain user security, and operating system troubleshooting
• Windows Server Active Directory technical support experience with advanced knowledge of OU structures, AD security, local and group policy.
• Applicant must have excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP, VPN, IPSec, and thin/thick/web application architectures.
• Working knowledge of current Microsoft SQL Server and Windows 2003 / 2008 / 2012 Server.
• MSI and EXE application packaging experience using Flexera AdminStudio, Wise Package Studio, SMSInstaller, InstallShield, vbscript and / or powershell scripting is a plus
• Experience with S/W Distribution and Patch Management using SCCM 2012.
Requirement Skills/Education/Experience:
• 4 years Relative Experience using MDT and SCCM for Image Development and Deployment.
• 2 Year College Degree in related studies.
• Extensive IT and Image related experience will be considered as alternative qualification.
• Experience with Windows 7 and Windows 10 Image Development
• Experience with development and use of Zero and Lite Touch Image deployment methodologies
• Experience developing and deploying images and applications for MAC OS is a big plus
• Experience with deployment using SCCM OSD and supporting task sequencing methods
• 5 years' experience administering and using Microsoft SCCM for software and/or Image deployment
