Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Histology/CRO Laboratory Supervisor to join our laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the set up and management of CRO testing workflow, lab operations related to IHC, and sample testing work including preparation, processing, and staining of tissue specimens to assist pathologists. The role requires advanced knowledge of histology techniques and strict adherence to laboratory standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the set up and optimization of CRO workflow based on IHC platform.
- Responsible for the management of the professional group, responsible for arranging and participating in the daily receipt of specimens, testing of various items, reagent storage, sample preservation, review of reports and interpretation of test results;
- Review the corresponding test records and auxiliary records, analyze and organize the experimental data, ensure the accuracy and traceability of the test results of related products.
- Perform tissue fixation, embedding, microtomy, and staining of slides, including special stains and immunohistochemistry (IHC).
- Operate and maintain histology equipment, including tissue processors, embedding centers, microtomes, and slide stainers.
- Ensure accurate labeling of specimens, slides, and blocks to prevent mix-ups or errors.
- Monitor quality control and quality assurance standards to ensure optimal staining and preparation of tissue sections.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with tissue processing or staining, adjusting procedures as needed.
- Responsible for the drafting and revision of the relevant experimental SOP for the team.
- Assist in the development and optimization of new histology protocols and staining techniques.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals in compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure adequate supplies of reagents and consumables.
- Responsible for the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of laboratory quality systems, working with pathologists, laboratory technicians and other health care professionals to provide high quality diagnostic services.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay updated on advances in histology.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and operations in all projects assigned.
- Manage the team by ensuring attendance, knowledge and training are up to the Company’s standards and policies.
- Any other ad hoc projects or duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Histotechnology, or a related field.
- Certification: Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is required.
- Candidates who are a licensed Histotechnologist or Histotechnician in New York State are highly desired.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a Clinical/medical/diagnostics lab required.
- Preferred candidates with experience working in Histology IHC lab.
- Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in histology techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
o Proficient in the operation and maintenance of automated immunohistochemistry staining machines, such as those from Leica, Roche, or DAKO.
o Experience with special stains, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and enzyme histochemistry is highly desirable.
o Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and digital pathology systems.
o Familiarity with laboratory safety standards, including the use of PPE and handling of hazardous chemicals.
o Experience with lab operation and management.

Preferred Qualifications:
- NYS Licensed Histotechnologist (HTL) or Licensed unrestricted Medical Lab Technician (MLT) preferred.
- Experience working in a clinical or research pathology lab setting.
- Familiarity with molecular pathology techniques (e.g., FISH, PCR).
- Fluent in Mandarin or Chinese language is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- May require standing for extended periods and working with potentially hazardous chemicals or biological samples.
- Must adhere to laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Regular handling of sharp instruments, such as microtome blades.
