Organizational Unit Overview:
Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing at East Carolina University. ITCS, through innovative information technology initiatives and service, provides opportunities for the ECU community to excel in teaching, research, and service using state-of-the-market technology and collaborative environments. ITCS is first and foremost committed to providing excellent information technology support for faculty, staff, and students. ITCS partners with campus departments, other universities, and industry to make strategic investments in information technology infrastructure that will help maintain a competitive advantage in administrative applications, faculty research, and outreach to the state and nation. We will achieve this through increasing the core functions and deploying appropriate technology throughout the university.
Networking Services is comprised of various primary support areas including Network Architect. Network Analysis, Unified Communications, Network Infrastructure and Network Engineering. These five distinctly structured teams deliver university networking services, asset management control and loss prevention for mission critical network services and enterprise voice communications as well as provide consulting and troubleshooting support for faculty, staff, and medical clinics at East Carolina University. The services provided by the Network Services team include but are not limited to providing support for enterprise-level, mission-critical services, and technologies such as DHCP, DNS, VPN, Firewall, ACL, VoIP phone services, voice mail, call center solutions, network management, unified communication resources, cloud storage, email security and identity management.
Job Duties:
This position is part of the Identity Management team and is responsible for the management of ECU's enterprise user identities, accounts, credentials, and system access. This position focuses on privilege account management, password management, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, rights management, user access, and user lifecycle management.
Identity Management client support:Daily ticket queue management by triaging tickets for staff members, responding to client trouble tickets with SLA, and resolving tickets within SLA utilizing our ticketing system, TeamDynamix. This includes tickets directly related to identity enterprise services, Single Sign on Solutions (Shibboleth, Azure SSO, ADFS), Federation Management.
Support and maintenance: Implementation and maintenance of Identity and Access Management solutions utilizing Microsoft 365 licensing, Active Directory, Azure AD, Azure MFA, Azure AD Connect, Intune, Group Policy, Certificate services. Work with IDM staff to aid in the design, installation and support for levels/releases of this software, minimizing application unavailability to the end-user while maximizing available resources, troubleshooting problems pertaining to production and test systems; identifying conditions that impede system performance; developing security guidelines; setting access permissions; using all available resources to protect environment from potential security threats.
Documentation: Develops and maintains procedures and processes regarding standards of use. Investigates and maintains in depth technical knowledge of current and future products and services by reading trade publications, meeting with vendors about road maps for future products, optimizing current product utilization with vendor technical staff and seeks opportunities for professional growth. Applies the knowledge obtained to support and enhance technological growth in meeting the continual change within the delivery of an enterprise identity solution. Assists supervisor in developing short and long-term plans for enterprise collaboration service's needs.
Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity (DR/BC): Develop and assist with the DR/BC planning, implementation, documentation and testing of all collaboration services systems. Assists with the development of goals and actions in the implementation of DR/BC processes. Reviews the DR/BC processes with manager on a annual basis. Assists with the required disaster recovery testing on an annual basis to ensure testing is performed effectively and appropriate documentation is submitted on a timely basis.
Project Management: May function as team project lead, facilitating and overseeing large, highly complex projects
Responsible for consulting with clients and technicians for pricing and network requirements
Coordinates with various teams on highly detailed plans and implementation
Provides technical guidance, solutions, and recommendations for university projects
Assist management with developing project budgets
Utilize project management software and methodologies to manage projects.
New Technology Exploration: Research, evaluate and implement new technologies.
Identify and develop enterprise guidelines for network-based products and services
Develop solutions that offer efficiencies and enhance overall enterprise network infrastructure
Other duties as assigned
This position may be eligible for Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA) under the ECU FWA Policy.
Duties require On-Call responsibilities.
This position requires the employee to reside within a reasonable commutable distance of the ECU main campus. “Reasonable commuting distance” is defined as a location that does not exceed a distance that can be safely traveled in two hours by automobile under average conditions of traffic, weather, and roads to employee's assigned duty station in Greenville, NC.
The standard work schedule for this position will need to be adjusted to meet the position requirements, which include and are not limited to evening and weekend hours to perform scheduled and unscheduled workload requirements to maintain University operations.
