Position Summary:In consultation with the Director of Ice Operations, the Ice Operations Manager oversees, supervises, and coordinates the day-to-day ice operations of the complex including but not limited to ice maintenance, ice resurfacer maintenance, equipment safety and capital projects. This employee also provides overall administrative planning, direction, and policies to the ice operations staff, assuring the highest quality service and delivering the highest level of ice conditions.
This role will pay a hourly salary of $19.75 to $21.75.

About the Venue:Centene Community Ice Center is a state-of-the-art facility designed for hockey programming that is curated for all ages and skill levels. It houses three sheets of ice inside year-round and also features an outdoor rink for use in winter months, transforming into St. Louis Music Park in the summer months, a 4,500-seat concert venue that hosts on average 30 shows per season. It is the official practice facility for the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) and serves as the home rink for Lindenwood University (NCAA DI). Alongside hockey development programs, the facility also offers freestyle skating and daily public skate sessions providing a unique experience for locals to get on the ice.
Responsibilities:- Oversees daily operation and maintenance of the ice rinks to ensure the highest quality ice surface on all four ice rinks; including, glass and dasher board maintenance and cleaning, ice logo installation.
- Proven ability in operating Olympia ice resurfacers and conducting the necessary preventative maintenance.
- Safely operate Olympia ice resurfacers to maintain the ice surface before, during, and after groups.
- Assist in selecting, training, motivating, scheduling, and evaluating ice maintenance staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
- Assist with yearly ice removal and installation.
- Responsible for Health & Safety compliance
- Assist Custodial staff with Cleaning of locker rooms, emptying trash, sweeping floors and other jobs as assigned.
- Ability to perform general labor including removing dasher walls, glass, setting of tables and chairs, building stages, setting pipe and drape, detail cleaning, exterior maintenance, snow removal, painting, etc.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve ice operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility stakeholders and facility users
- Must be able to work nights and weekends, holidays when needed
- All other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Director of Ice Operations
- 2 years’ experience in ice and facility operations management.
- Must show demonstrated knowledge of ice maintenance, supervisory skills and experience in work crew supervision in facility operations.
- Ability to work event nights, weekends and holidays as required.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
- Knowledge of ice making
- Capable of operating in Microsoft Office applications including: Excel, Word, Outlook
- Ability to supervise the work of others
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment
- Ability to lift over 50lbs
- Ability to speak, read and write in English
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Working knowledge of equipment safety, ice maintenance and facility maintenance
- Excellent customer service skills
