Title: Instrumentation & Electrical Technician (I&E)
Location: Millington, TN
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Summary: Support the plant Instrumentation & Electrical system preventative maintenance programs for all production equipment including equipment calibration. Assist plant operations, engineers and maintenance team members in tasks or troubleshooting involving equipment reliability and performance improvements. The Maintenance Instrumentation & Electrician Technician will be responsible for the plant instrumentation & electrical systems as well as assist with equipment repairs and upgrades while being knowledgeable and compliant with established Koppers EH&S policies and procedures related to daily work activities. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Follow safety procedures, rules and work in a safe manner
Responsible for computer driven control system and related devices
Develop and maintain strong equipment / process technical knowledge
Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning instrumentation & electrical systems / equipment
Wiring and cable faults
PLC’s and logic controls
Use software and hardware devices to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of equipment, field measurement devices.
Replacing faulty electrical components as required
Position sensing devices
Printed circuit control boards
Strong equipment / processing technical knowledge
Perform preventive maintenance and corrective calibration testing on devices
Install / power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed equipment
Diagnose and repair of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Follow detailed work order instructions
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Proficient in Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word, Outlook
Emerson Process Management’s AMS Suite, Micro Motion Pro-Link Transmitter Configuration and Rockwell Automation Drive Executive software a plus
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus technical school training
Minimum of five years’ verifiable electrical experience, preferably in an industrial or similar environment
Able to attend training classes to keep current and new technologies
Strong troubleshooting skills
Strong equipment / process technical knowledge
Able to speak, read, write and understand English
Able to perform mathematical equations necessary for position's essential duties
Able to recognize and communicate to management any difficulties or problems as related to this position's essential duties and responsibilities
Must be able to work within a team group environment to perform maintenance task
Able to read and understand electrical ladder logic
Shelby County Journeyman’s License preferred
