Hydrologic Systems Technician - County of Riverside
Riverside, CA 92501
About the Job
The Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District has an exciting opportunity for a Hydrologic Systems Technician (Engineering Technician I/II) in Riverside. The incumbent in this position will serve Riverside County by performing maintenance and installation of over 250 existing sites, which may include data collection throughout the County. Please note that this position does not progress into an engineering position. The ideal candidate will be a team player who can work independently and effectively, and at times, in remote field sites and under adverse weather conditions.
The department is looking for candidates who are willing to learn new technical skills, as well as learn skills in the collection and analysis of hydrologic data. If you have construction or electronics experience and a basic knowledge of computers, we encourage you to apply.
Other competitive experience includes experience with Instrumentation and Control systems, experience with PLC (p rogrammable logic controller) programming and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system maintenance, and experience with RF (Radio Frequency) Environments, RTUs (Remote terminal units), data loggers, cellular/satellite telemetry, or other data collection platforms. Additionally, experience with AC and DC power, motors, and motor controls, and with radio towers and antennas is competitive.
This position does not have the option for remote work and all Flood Control employees are expected to assist if there are emergency situations such as storms. The level at which this position will be filled will be determined by the department.
The Engineering Technician I is distinguished from the Engineering Aide in that the former performs assignments of a larger scope and works more independently. The Engineering Technician I is a natural progression underfill for the Engineering Technician II. Incumbents are eligible to promote to Engineering Technician II upon successful completion of their probationary period, which would include a satisfactory performance evaluation and any additional qualification requirements. The Engineering Technician II is distinguished from the Engineering Technician I in that the former is the fully qualified journey level in the series. Advancement to the next level in the Engineering Technician series is obtained by competitive selection through an open recruitment.
