Under the general direction of both the Senior and Assistant Director of Diagnostic Imaging, the Manager of Molecular Imaging, Therapy, and CT is responsible for the daily leadership and operations management for the Nuclear Medicine, PET & Theranostics Program, CT and all locations where these services are performed (SJH, CHH1, HRC, LBRB, KPV & OCB/CHO). While the range of duties and responsibilities is broad and varied, the position’s major responsibilities are overseeing all day-to-day operations, in coordination with CT Supervisor and other leadership teams, including the delivery of care, human resource management, capital and operational budgeting, equipment oversight, financial management and all PI activities.
Scope of management includes oversight and direct responsibility for a fleet of Nuclear Medicine Gamma and PET including 5 SPECT/CT cameras, 2 PET/CT, 1 PET/MRI, 6 dedicated CT scanners and 2 Portable CT units. This manager role has direct oversight of 50 FTE performing over 12,000 NM/PET exams and Theranostic procedures annually, ~77,000 CT exams annually generating $145M in combined Gross Revenues with an Operational Budget control of $15M for both departments.
The Manager is member of the Diagnostic Imaging Department’s senior management team, fostering a customer/patient focused perspective and ensuring a strong commitment to organizational service standards. The individual maintains collaborative multi-disciplinary relationships within and outside of the organization. Serves as an important member of the Department’s Senior Management team to starategically plan and resolve broad management/administrative issues such as planning for future programs and services, procedure coding and revenue capture, cost monitoring and control, patient scheduling, safety, patient experience, workflows, operational KPI’s regulatory compliance, and the overall timeliness and quality of services provided.
The CT/MIT Hybrid Manager consults, collaborates with, and helps develop other members of DI leadership to ensure the effective integration of strategic objectives, performance management, PI and technological performance. This hybrid manager role is active within their respective modality and demonstrated by active participation in national and/or regional committee and/or presenting at industry related meetings.
Function/Duties of Position:Department Senior Management/Leadership Responsibility
- Develops planning that support both organization and department operational goals.

Management of Staff and Service
- Oversees and gives direction to the CT Supervisor on all supervisory related roles and responsibilities including (but not limited to) the following:
- Staff scheduling, workflow oversight and enhancement, rounding, equipment issues/coordination, and meeting participation.
- Conducting or co-facilitating staff meetings
- Participate in department planning and operation meetings
- Coordinating coverage for vacations, appointments, and any other outages during on duty and off duty hours;
- Coordinate training of new staff technologists, maintain staff competency and coordinate the training necessary to keep technical staff current with the latest technological advances.
- Ensure compliance with hospital and university regulatory and safety requirements
- Identify training and educational needs of staff and determine appropriate resources to meet those needs.
- This position will be responsible for practicing cost effective use of supplies and materials.
- Prepares formal performance evaluations and GROW conversations, discuss performance results with employees.
- Staff scheduling, workflow oversight and enhancement, rounding, equipment issues/coordination, and meeting participation.
- Responsible for performance improvement, patient experience and all regulatory requirements.
- Develop clinic relationships and engage team members. Evaluate, develop and improve service standards and related metrics to ensure patient and provider satisfaction.
- Responsible for recruitment and retention. Optimizes plans for onboarding and employee engagement.
- Develops teams and provides coaching to all staff to ensure optimal performance. Leads and conducts corrective action measures as necessary.
- Work in conjunction with Radiologist leaders, CT Supervisor and OHSU management and staff to develop materials used to educate, teach and develop the technological staff
- Ensures department services are expediently delivered through effective organization of staff and workflow.
- Resolves problems and communicates in a positive and effective manner with all staff, patients and visitors.
Staff Competency, Image Performance and Management
- Develops, creates, optimizes imaging protocols that result in quality images. Ensures exams are provided with accuracy, efficiency and timliness.
- Maintains level of technical knowledge and ability to provide scanning assistance in Nuclear Medicine, PET, Theranostics, and CT when necessary.
- Ensures imaging equipment and work areas are neat and clean to meet compliance with all related regulatory standards
- Demonstrates technical expertise to create and manage complex imaging protocols, and may include or delegate to technical staff.
- Demonstrates an understanding of specific normal anatomy and abnormal pathology to aid in the diagnosis of disease. Must be able to decide on the completeness and quality of the patient’s studies when working independently of a Radiologist.
- Demonstrates knowledge on patient positioning for all Molecular Imaging exams and procedures with a high regard for patient safety, care and comfort. Demonstrates understanding of appropriate Molecular Imaging/Therapy protocols for specific examinations.
- Demonstrates knowledge on patient positioning for CTexaminations with a high regard for patient safety, care and comfort. Demonstrates understanding of appropriate CT protocolfor specific examinations.
- Serves as CT Dose Committee Chair leading department safety and quality initiatives related to CT Imaging.
- Ensures all aspects of Imaging duties, including data entry into Epic Radiant are completed appropriately.
- Demonstrates competent knowledge and skills in the use of all Molecular Imaging/Therapy ancillary equipment. Stays current in regards to new Nuclear Medicine/Molecular Imaging technology, hardware and software upgrades.
- Demonstrates competent knowledge and skills in the use of all CTscanners and related ancillary equipment within the CT Department. Stays current in regards to new CT technology, hardware and software upgrades.
- Meets all Nuclear Medicine/Molecular Imaging and CT Technologist competencies.
- Ensures that staff inform patient and/or family of all needed information concerning the exam performed.
- Assists in the rotational training of Radiology students.
- Serves as main resource and collaborator providing technical support/resource as wel as other related duties for NM/MI and CT clinical research program and studies.
- Practices professional communications, appearance, conduct, punctuality, attendance and attitude that leads to physician, patient and co-worker respect and confidence.
Management of Budget, Billing and Supplies
- Prepare the capital and operating budgets (revenue and expense) for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Analyze monthly operating and financial statements for areas of responsibility. Note variances in operating expense or revenue production, and determine actions to resolve variances when variances fall outside of limits of budget tolerance.
- Responsible to meet budgetary targets including operating costs and revenue production.
- Monitor flow of OHSU component patient charges and intervene as necessary to ensure timely, accurate and comprehensive flow of patient billing information.
- Participate in the selection and initiate purchase of major and minor capital equipment items.
- Responsible for acquiring, managing and ensuring optimal usage of consumable supply inventories for areas assigned.
- Work to reduce inventories and reduce costs through standardization and selection of lowest cost supplies consistent with acceptable levels of quality.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years’ experience (3 years demonstrated progressive Imaging leadership)
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine and/or CT Technology training program
- Min 2 years supervisory experience
- Min 2 years of dedicated NucMed and CT technologist experience.
- Experience working in a Level I / II Trauma Center, or equivalent
- Demonstrate knowledge in the understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Have the ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care and the completeness and appropriateness of exams ordered.
- Good judgment, decision-making skills, and good organization and communication skills.
- Have the ability to demostrate critial thinking and problem solving skills.
- Must be able to stand, lift, and move patients.
- Have a working knowledge of general NM/MI physics and principles.
- Familiarity with and be accountable to maintaining all regulatory requirements.

- ARRT, CT
- PET Certification
- OBMI Licensure.
- CPR

Salary Range: $89,793.60 - $143,416.00 per year
- This position works in a busy environment with a lot of interruptions, multiple demands and people interactions. It requires being exposed to noise, radiation, magnetic field and human tissue/fluids.
