The Financial Controller will manage daily finance and accounting operations, ensuring accurate reporting in line with GAAP. Reporting to the CFO, this role will advise on all aspects of accounting, financial planning, analysis, and compliance. The Controller will collaborate with Senior Leadership to drive HAC’s mission and strategic plan while managing Finance staff in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Staff Leadership:
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will be a seasoned finance leader with 10+ years in FP&A, accounting, or audit, ideally with nonprofit or CDFI experience. They should possess strong communication and executive presentation skills, have experience with Federal grants, and be proficient with finance systems like Oracle NetSuite. A CPA is ideal.

- Oversee finance operations, including budgeting, forecasting, transaction accounting, and month-end closings.
- Lead financial analysis and decision-support activities for executive presentations.
- Ensure timely financial reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage cash flow, budgeting processes, and financial statements preparation.
- Support financial system implementations and develop business plans in response to organizational changes.
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership on grant management and property accounting.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in finance team management.
Staff Leadership:
- Create a supportive environment fostering professional growth.
- Mentor staff to take ownership of responsibilities and provide regular feedback.

- 10+ years in finance, including 3+ years as a Controller.
- Bachelor's in Accounting Required; Master's in Finance or MBA Required
- Nonprofit finance experience or audit experience with nonprofit clients.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Oracle NetSuite, and other financial systems.
- Skilled at simplifying complex information for diverse audiences.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
