The successful candidate will have senior-level experience working in Oregon state and federal courts and arbitrations, and a depth of knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and processes. This full-time position will primarily support one attorney and occasionally the office’s other lawyers with Oregon-based cases. We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, very straightforward by nature, an exceptional proofreader, positive and proactive, and appreciates the challenging work and fast pace of litigation.

We are seeking a seasoned Hybrid Complex Litigation Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. This role offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the fast-paced world of complex litigation, working on high-stakes cases that require meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and a deep understanding of legal procedures and protocols. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines, and thrive in a high-pressure environment. This position is a hybrid role, meaning it involves both traditional legal assistant duties and more specialized tasks related to complex litigation.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide comprehensive legal support to attorneys, including preparing legal documents, conducting legal research, and managing case files.
2. Coordinate with outside counsel on various matters, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
3. Handle docketing responsibilities, including tracking deadlines and ensuring all filings are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
4. Assist in the preparation and management of class action lawsuits, including gathering and organizing relevant information and documentation.
5. Manage the e-filing of legal documents, ensuring all files are correctly submitted and stored.
6. Work closely with clients, providing updates, answering queries, and ensuring their needs are met throughout the litigation process.
7. Proofread documents meticulously to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
8. Create and maintain notebooks for each case, ensuring all information is organized, up to date, and easily accessible for attorneys and other team members.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in the field of complex litigation.
2. Proven experience working with outside counsel, demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills.
3. Strong legal research skills, with the ability to quickly and accurately gather and analyze information.
4. Experience with docketing and e-filing procedures.
5. Previous involvement in class action lawsuits, demonstrating a deep understanding of the processes and requirements involved.
6. Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
7. Excellent proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail.
8. Experience creating and managing case notebooks, demonstrating strong organizational skills and an ability to keep information easily accessible.
9. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with clients, attorneys, and counsel, ensuring their needs are met throughout the litigation process.
