About the Job
Iowa Orthopedic Center is looking for a Billing Support Specialist to join our team! The Billing Support Specialist performs administrative and various general procedures associated with routine billing processing. This position supports the Billing department and works closely with the Advanced Billing Support Specialist to ensure that documentation are routed properly to the correct physician and payer entity. Our full-time position is Monday through Friday, with clinic hours. After completing the training period, this position offers a hybrid work arrangement, but it's essential that you reside within a 2-hour radius of the Des Moines metro area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handles denials, correspondence and tasks as assigned
- Process insurance audits daily
- Work clearing house rejections for all insurance payers
- Responsible for an Insurance AR assigned by the Billing Manager and subject to change without prior notice
- Works all bone stem tasks, deceased patient, and co-pay assistant programs
- Works closely with the Advanced Billing Support Specialist to assist them with any daily file drops
- Additional duties as assigned related to billing support
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent communication skills
- Math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide
- Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, outlook, word, etc)
- Ability to enter data into systems with minimal errors
- Ability to operate a scanner and name documents accurately
- Medical Terminology and Medical Forms experience preferred but not required
- Ability to prioritize and demonstrated ability to manage details
- Ability to maintain composure during times of change or job assignments
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma
- One year of medical office experience or related post high school education in clinical field, preferred.

- Visual abilities in order to work at computer terminal
- Ability to speak clearly and hear the English language without translation, in order to communicate with various individuals
- Fingering skills required in use of a computer terminal up to eight (8) hours a day
- Ability to work in busy work environment with multiple interruptions
