Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all areas
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations and monitor unapplied trust balances and unbilled WIP
- Train and mentor accounting teams to ensure best practices are followed
- Prepare and analyze billing and collections statements
- Review and approve expense reports
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger
- Develop and calculate budgets, provide statistical analysis, and prepare probability statements
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and professional standards
- Lead and manage special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the legal industry
- Experience with legal accounting software such as Aderant, Elite, SAP, BillBlast, eBillingHub, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and budgeting
- Excellent analytical skills, with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Proven experience in training and leading accounting teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred but not required.
