POSITION SUMMARY:
The HVAC/R Instructor is responsible for instructing in practical applications regarding HVAC/R Technology. In collaboration with other HVAC/R instructors, successfully move each HVAC/R Technology student through the HVAC/R Technician program so they can be properly trained and ready to accept entry level employment as a service technician within the HVAC/R industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct classes and labs in the HVAC / R Technician program .
- Prepare for and instruct classes using the approved NETTTS curriculum, and answer practical questions from students
- Administer and grade tests, enter test scores as instructed by the Chief HVAC/R Instructor
- Present lab tasks fully using the prescribed program outline provided by NETTTS.
- Prepare lab area in preparation of lab to be taught.
- Record student attendance and enter attendance as instructed by the Chief HVAC/R Instructor
- Keep abreast of technical and equipment changes/improvements in the HVAC / R industry
- Attend meetings with other instructors and staff members.
- Assist with the maintenance of equipment and supplies in the HVAC/R shop
- Assess student progress and identify and act on students that need more training
- Follow school policy and help assure all students follow school policy.
- Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:
- At least 3 years' experience as a licensed HVAC/R technician.
- Desire to train the next generation of HVAC/R technicians.
SKILLS/ KEY COMPETENCES:
- Demonstration of a genuine concern, as well as a compassion and desire to help people.
- Advocacy for NETTTS and its programs.
- Professional attitude and appearance.
- Patience in working with students and staff.
- Ability to motivate students and to display enthusiasm for program, for NETTTS, and student’s progress and success.
- Ability to articulate with directions for shop skills.
- Ability to learn to motivate students and to serve as an advocate for the school and the assigned campus.
- Sincere desire to help others to learn the HVACR trade
- JUDGEMENT – Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief HVAC / R Instructor and in accordance with goals and policies established by the corporate office, as well as regulations and compliance mandated by governmental funding and accrediting agencies. Responsibilities require a high degree of judgment, initiative and continuing evaluation of results in maintaining a full complement of students and financial stability.
- COMPLEXITY – Work involves overall responsibility for following the HVAC / R prescribed curriculum, for basic shop skills.
- IMPACT OF ERRORS – Understanding the impact for errors in judgment and in failure to accomplish the full responsibilities may cause: disgruntled and unmotivated employees and students; a high attrition rate; poor customer relations and employee morale; delivery of an inferior product; and failure to maintain equipment in safe and working condition.

Travel:
- Very occasional travel to a workshop or training meeting. No overnight travel is anticipated.
Physical Requirements:
- Mobility to move around the campus including classroom and lab space. Ability to walk, lift and move objects up to 40 lbs, bend, stretch, and reach, and to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to communicate clearly. Good eyesight. Stamina to deal with a variety of activities, sometimes under stressful conditions.
