What you will do
Works on the Engineering Lab team that is part of the ASC Brand for ADTi. In this division, we design, test, manufacture and assemble grilles, registers, diffusers, chilled beams, critical environment products, VAV products, fan coils, and blower coils for the commercial and light industrials markets.
How you will do it
- Prepare and install test units in the test facility in order to simulate field installation conditions, or per test standard requirements, duct connection, electrical connection, etc.
- Set up test facilities and connect data acquisition instruments according to general instructions and per test standard requirements.
- Analyze test data, and make modifications and adaptations to the test unit based upon analysis of the data.
- Utilize computer software programs to run the test facility, conduct testing, and collect and analyze test data.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
- Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems
- Operates machine tools, welders, sheet metal working and wood making equipment
- Generates draft test reports for pending review for final test reports
- Works with precision with materials of all types such as: metals, wood and plastic
- Uses precision measuring instruments
- Review & interpret agency standards
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
- Converting existing Units by pulling parts, replacing parts and reassembling
- Attaching instrumentation like thermal couples and pressure taps
- Moving units and materials using forklifts, cranes or parts chaser carts
- Maintain Engineering Lab inventory of units, materials, supplies, and calibration logs
- Other duties as required
What we look for
- 2 year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in related field
- Strong working knowledge of electrical circuitry and skills in such areas as reading wiring diagrams, modifying unit wiring and controls with minimal instruction, instrumentation, electromechanical troubleshooting, and modification of prototypes
- Ability to analyze data and make decisions based on analysis
- Ability to lift equipment, fans, motors, sheet metal parts etc.
- Self-driven with the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Lead and instruct team members to execute unit setups
- Strong interpersonal skills and decision making ability
- Good working knowledge of techniques and skills in areas of wiring, soldering, brazing, fabrication and/or assembly
- Ability to interpret and work from sketches/blueprints/verbal instruction with minimal supervision
- Basic math skills
- Effective and professional communication and organizational skills are required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Outlook or other email programs
- Experience in welding (MIG, TIG, etc.), is a plus
- Experience with NI and LabView is preferred
- Experience with CAD, Solidworks, is a plus
- Experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printing a plus
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Ability to braze using Oxy/Acetylene torch is a plus
- Ability to solder using a soldering gun is a plus
- Ability to troubleshoot, collaborate and brainstorm with other team members
