EMI Services is looking for an HVAC Technician to install, service and repair environmental-control systems in residences, department stores, office buildings and other commercial establishments, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout. The HVAC Technician may install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging from one to 200 tons cooling capacity, in warehouses and small factory buildings and must be able to work on ice machines and their components.
Salary
$31.07/hr. $9.75 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Responsibilities
- Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications
- Fabricate, assemble and install ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment
- Install evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools
- Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools
- Cut and thread pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment
- Join tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant
- Install expansion and discharge valves in circuit
- Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source. Installs air and water filters in completed installation
- Inject small amount of refrigerant into compressor to test systems and adds Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure
- Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to insure proper operation
- Test joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap-and-water solution
- Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place with cement or wire bands
- Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician's hand tools and test equipment
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of all tools and equipment that are used by the crafts
- Read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, schematics and diagrams as they pertain to the craft
- Ability to perform work of the craft in a rapid and efficient manner under extreme conditions
- Ability to perform work safely under hazardous conditions
- Ability to trouble shoot and repair most complex problems
- Expert knowledge of craft theory and craft materials with the ability to apply the theory and select the proper materials
- Must have the ability to operate various types of equipment for the trade i.e. forklifts, scissor/man lifts, etc.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years experience in the HVAC trade
- EPA Universal Refrigeration License
- Valid driver’s license without special restrictions
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Regular, dependable attendance
- U. S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

Physical Requirements
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests
- Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned
- Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit
- Must be capable of lifting 75 lbs. unassisted
