Utah Community Action of Salt Lake City, UT is seeking to hire a full time HVAC Technician to work in our Weatherization Program. Work 40 hours a week, typical 8 hour/day, Monday thru Friday position. No nights or weekends!

This HVAC Technician position earns a competitive wage of $28.66/hour. As a HVAC Technician you are responsible for the installation, repair, and tuning of a variety of residential heating and cooling systems for the weatherization program. Responsible to ensure the safety and proper operations of combustion appliances in client's homes and the installation of various ventilation systems. Responsible to follow and comply with work orders. Responsible for proper use and maintenance of vehicles and tools.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma required.
- 2 years prior HVAC experience preferred.
- Must have Rocky Mountain Gas Association (RMGA) Gas Technician Certification and EPA 608 refrigeration certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Driver's License.
JOB DUTIES
- Educate clients about measures and materials being installed; on proper use and operation of appliances; and about reducing energy consumption to help save money on utility bills.
- Testing of combustion appliances for safe operation
- Installation and replacement of central air conditioning units.
- Ability test and service AC units including charging and reclaiming refrigerant as needed
- Install ventilation and duct work for ventilation fans to comply with the AHRAE 62.2 standards
- Diagnose for repair or replacement of unsafe or nonworking appliances as allowed.
- Installation, repair and sealing of properly sized duct work for forced air furnaces
- Perform duct pressure testing and diagnostics to ensure proper air flow and operation
- Follow safe work practices and procedures including Lead Safe work practices when necessary.
- Follow and complete assigned work orders.
- Communicate with auditors, inspectors and supervisors to resolve issues that arise with differences in work orders and work required to accomplish desired result.
- Accurately complete and report all necessary paperwork to comply with federal, state and agency guidelines.
- Properly use and maintain agency vehicles and tools for weatherization purposes, and accurately fill out and report materials taken, materials returned and materials used sheets.
