Role: HVAC Service & Controls Technician,
Location: Fredericksburg, VA
Position Overview: As an HVAC Service & Controls Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting HVAC systems in commercial, and industrial settings to ensure the heating and cooling systems operate efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Installing control systems for HVAC equipment, including thermostats, sensors, actuators, and control panels.
- Programming: Programming and configuring control systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency. This may involve setting temperature and humidity levels, scheduling HVAC equipment operation, and integrating with building automation systems.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with HVAC control systems, including electrical issues, sensor malfunctions, and communication errors.
- Repair and Maintenance: Performing regular maintenance tasks to keep HVAC control systems in good working condition, such as cleaning components, replacing worn parts, and calibrating sensors.
- Testing and Commissioning: Testing newly installed or repaired control systems to ensure they function correctly and meet design specifications. This may involve conducting performance tests and verifying system integration.
- Customer Service:
- Interact with customers professionally and provide information about the services being performed.
- Offer recommendations for system upgrades, energy-efficient solutions, and improvements.
- Provide cost estimates for repairs and replacements and obtain customer approval before proceeding.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to safety protocols, including using personal protective equipment and following industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental regulations and codes.
- Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including service reports, equipment specifications, and maintenance schedules.
- Order and track inventory of replacement parts and supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with a variety of tools and instruments such as gauges, multimeters, leak detectors, and power tools to perform tasks.
- Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies, equipment, and industry trends through ongoing training and professional development.
- HVAC Service Technicians should be physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and endure various weather conditions.
