Job Summary:
The HVAC/MEP QA/QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in service, preventive maintenance (PMs), and installation projects. This role requires in-depth knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong understanding of industry standards and regulations. The Inspector will perform inspections, document findings, and coordinate with project teams to ensure all work meets company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical service, preventive maintenance, and installation projects.
- Ensure all mechanical systems are installed, maintained, and operating according to specifications and industry standards.
- Identify and document any defects, non-conformances, or areas needing improvement.
- Verify compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, including ASHRAE, NFPA, and relevant building codes.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions.
- Prepare comprehensive QA/QC reports and submit them to the Corporate Commissioning and Startup Manager.
- Document all preventive maintenance activities and mechanical service tasks.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve quality issues.
- Communicate inspection results and recommendations to project teams and management.
- Provide guidance and support to technicians and contractors to ensure quality standards are met.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance QA/QC processes.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical certification in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC service, preventive maintenance, and installations.
- At least 3 years of experience in a QA/QC role or similar position.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with QA/QC tools and software.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
