HVAC Mechanic
Job Summary
As a Systems Maintenance Mechanic specializing in motors, pumps, and HVAC equipment, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and functionality of mechanical systems within our facility. Your expertise will be pivotal in maintaining and repairing equipment essential to our operations, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of our systems.

Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities: 1. Provides excellent customer service by listening to the customer’s concerns and communicating with the customer before, during, and after the work is done.2. Must be self-motivated and prioritize work orders daily.3. Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on motors, pumps, and HVAC systems according to established schedules and procedures.4. Diagnose mechanical issues, identify root causes of equipment malfunctions, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.5. Conduct repairs on motors, pumps, and HVAC components including but not limited to bearings, belts, seals, and valves. Ensure replacements and installations meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.6. Perform testing, calibration, and adjustment of equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to operational requirements.7. Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for motors, pumps, and HVAC systems to prevent unexpected failures and extend equipment lifespan.8. Respond promptly to equipment failures and emergencies to minimize disruption to operations. Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost savings in maintenance practices and equipment operation.9. Must have moderate computer skills. Checking and answering emails daily is required.10. Provides support to the other trades within the District.11. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Depending on the area of assignment, three years of maintenance and repair experience, or equivalency, in one or more of the following areas is required: pipefitting; heating, air conditioning, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), and steam-operated systems; pneumatic and electronic building control systems; plumbing and refrigeration systems; commercial/industrial laundry equipment; sterilizing equipment; gas/diesel engines and generators; kitchen and cafeteria equipment; mechanical and electrical troubleshooting; and welding. The ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations, effective human relations and communications skills, and demonstrated computer proficiency essential.
Incumbents who specialize in refrigeration and air conditioning systems must complete a two year vocational schooling program; possess Environmental Protection Agency certification with a Universal permit to handle refrigerants; and demonstrate a high level of technical expertise. A boiler license may be required for some positions.

Preferences
This work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, or similar activities. Recurring lifting and carrying of moderately heavy items up to 100 pounds and above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to use hand and power tools may be required. The ability to hold, grasp, and manipulate small parts, speak clearly and effectively, and listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally and on paper may also be required. There may be risks that require special safety precautions and equipment.
