HVAC Mechanic I - State of North Carolina

This position is located at Roanoke River Correctional Institution in Halifax County.   This position will perform the full range of journey work duties associated with the preventive and routine maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems at both a medium and minimum custody facility.  This position maintains the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment, installs new equipment, charge system refrigerants, replaces bearings, seals, and filters, lubricates as necessary and adjusts and balances the distribution system.  This position maintains electronic/pneumatic equipment, performs all necessary testing, trouble shooting, and alignment repair of electrical/pneumatic system. Positions are expected to identify the cause of the problem, determine materials and tools needed and method of repair, and carry out repair procedures independently on most jobs.  The HVAC Mechanic performs preventive maintenance functions as required and outlined in the preventative maintenance plans.  Employee may train and/or supervise the work of inmate helpers.
