About the Job
Primary Purpose:
To provide assistance to the Master HVAC Technician in carrying out the repair, replacement, and preventive maintenance of all HVAC Equipment.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum Experience: 5 years in commercial-industrial trade
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Must be able to accurately diagnose problems with HVAC equipment and make necessary repairs.
Should have certification of completion of study courses in HVAC sponsored by manufacturer or accredited school.
Must have EPA Certification for proper refrigerant use.
Must have basic computer skills and be able to learn the Automated Logics and Unify software programs
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Receive and complete work orders as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Perform scheduled a/c inspections, filter changes, ice machine cleaning and repairs
- Assist HVAC Supervisor in keeping records and reports.
- Maintain all HVAC work areas and equipment in a clean and neat condition.
- Inform supervisor of major HVAC repair/replacement needs of HVAC equipment
- Attend schools, seminars, and etc. to improve job knowledge.
- Assist co-workers in performances of their duties as needed.
- Safeguard tools and equipment assigned to his trust.
- Communicate with assigned building principals of repair status or system condition
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Respond to after-hour emergency calls.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Small hand tools, drills, testing instruments, vacuum pump, refrigeration recovery equipment, acetylene/oxygen equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands:
Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting - over 45 pounds. Responsibilities of the position can cause and require irregular work hours.
Environment:
Work outside and inside: exposure to hot and cold temperatures; work with high temperature and low temperature equipment; work in confined space; work with high pressure and high voltage equipment.
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay grade: 7- Auxiliary
Days: 240
Reports to: HVAC Supervisor
