About the Job
As an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Journeyman Lead Installer, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation of HVAC systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings to include remodels and renovations. This role is critical to ensure that HVAC systems are installed correctly, efficiently, to code local and national and safely. Here are some key responsibilities and qualifications associated with this position:
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning: Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand project requirements, including system specifications, layout, and design.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a large or small team of HVAC installers, technicians and/or apprentices. Delegate tasks and ensure that installations are carried out according to plans and safety standards.
- Installation: Perform HVAC system installations, including ductwork, piping, wiring, and equipment setup. Ensure systems are properly sized and configured to meet design specifications.
- Quality Control: Conduct inspections to verify the quality of work, adherence to regulations, and system functionality. Make adjustments or corrections as necessary.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure that team members use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- Materials and Tools Management: Maintain an inventory of materials, tools, and equipment necessary for installations. Order supplies as needed and ensure that tools are in good working condition.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to explain the installation process, answer questions, and address concerns. Provide guidance on system operation and maintenance.
- Documentation: Complete installation reports, service records, and other necessary paperwork. Maintain accurate records of equipment specifications and installation details.
- Training: Train and mentor junior HVAC installers and technicians. Keep the team updated on industry best practices and new technologies.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues that may arise during installation. Coordinate with service technicians for complex problem-solving.
Qualifications:
- HVAC Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration. Familiarity with various types of HVAC equipment and technologies.
- Experience: Several years of hands-on experience in HVAC installations, with a proven track record of successful projects.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Ability to delegate tasks, prioritize work, and motivate team members.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to address technical issues and ensure system functionality.
