POSITION SUMMARY
The Employee Relations Specialist supports the Employee Relations team in maintaining a positive and compliant workplace environment. This entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to build a foundation in Employee Relations. The role involves handling routine inquiries, assisting with investigations, and supporting the administration of employee relations initiatives. The Employee Relations Specialist will work closely with the VP of Employee Relations and other HR team members to foster a fair and respectful workplace.
This position is open exclusively to current employees of Cogir Senior Living. External candidates will not be considered at this time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Intake and triage of Employee Relations issues, serving as the first point of contact for employee relations issues and complaints.
- Guide employees and managers on resolving routine issues while accurately documenting complaints and ensuring timely follow-up.
- Under the guidance of the VP of Employee Relations, conducts thorough and impartial investigations into routine employee complaints, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, workplace misconduct, and other policy violations.
- Maintain thorough and organized records of investigations and follow-up actions, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Support the Employee Relations team in educating employees and managers on workplace policies and acceptable practices.
- Track employee relations data, assisting in the preparation of reports and summaries on trends, complaints, and resolution
- Independently develop Manager month training on Employee Relations and Performance Management topics.
- Own and manage the onboarding process, including making process improvement proposals.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, psychology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- AWI Certification preferred.
Experience, Competencies, and Skills:
- At least one (1) year of experience in an HR, customer service, or administrative role, with exposure to handling sensitive information preferred.
- Basic understanding of employee relations principles and employment laws and regulations (e.g., EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and communicate information objectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; adept in handling sensitive information with discretion.
- Proactive problem-solver with a commitment to promoting a fair, inclusive, and respectful work environment
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HR information systems.
- Experience with Paylocity is a plus.
- Must be a current Cogir Management employee in good standing.
