About the Role
Our Fortune 200 Dairy Food Manufacturing client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead HR functions at a large, multi-plant complex located in Central California. This role supports a 24/7, 365-day operation encompassing three plants on 40 acres, with approximately 500 hourly union employees and 80 management and office staff. The HR Manager will act as a strategic business partner to drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and positive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to an HR team of five, delivering comprehensive HR services.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategies that enhance employee engagement and operational efficiency.
- Manage employee relations, union negotiations, and ensure compliance with California labor laws.
- Serve as a coach and advisor to leadership, facilitating solutions for employee relations issues.
- Lead initiatives to enhance workplace culture, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Oversee HR processes including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
- Ensure adherence to state and federal employment regulations.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a closely related field required (MBA preferred).
- PHR or SPHR certification highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Minimum 10 years in Human Resources within manufacturing/production, including unionized facilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in California labor laws and regulations.
- Previous leadership of an HR team in a large organization.
- Skills:
- Proven ability to coach and influence leadership.
- Strong collaboration, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
- Discretion and judgment in managing sensitive situations.
