About the Job
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Partner with the HR Director and executive leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
* Execute and administer company-wide human resources policies and share HR best practices in accordance with Federal, State and local legal requirements.
* Manage talent acquisition process for assigned locations including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding qualified job applicants. Collaborate with departmental managers/leads to ensure that new employees understand job performance requirements, safety policy/behaviors and organizational values.
* Collaborate with HR Director and HR team in recruitment & retention strategies and succession planning process for assigned locations.
* Provide support, development and guidance to HR generalists and on-site HR admins and managers/leads with complex, specialized, or sensitive HR issues like disciplinary process, reasonable accommodations and terminations.
* Identify talent development strategy and opportunities. Partner with leadership and HR team in identifying and delivering skills-based training, and personal and career development,
* Oversight for performance management including performance appraisal process, compensation, diversity, equity & inclusion programs, and benefit programs for assigned facilities.
* Review and analyze wage and salary reports and data to establish competitive compensation plans for assigned facilities.
* Advise and assist senior management in workforce management.
* Manage employee relations activities and programs including but not limited to employee counseling, company policies, new employee orientation, and employee recognition programs for assigned locations.
* Establish and maintain department records and reports.
* Participate in administrative and team collaboration.
* Travel to all plants to perform duties as assigned. Up to 50% travel will be necessary.
* Performs other duties as assigned and manage team HR support staff.
Metals USA -Flat Rolled Group is seeking a Chicago-based Human Resources Manager for our Flat Rolled Group operations. Metals USA Flat Rolled is a dynamic growing company that is a leading supplier and processor of quality carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other non-ferrous metals to a wide range of manufactures and end users in many different industries and markets.
Job Details:
The Human Resources Manager in partnership with the FRG HR team, is responsible for managing all aspects of human resources including talent acquisition, retention management, training, leadership development, employment relations, compensation, affirmative action, employee health & wellness, HRIS and benefits. This position is responsible for ensuring all compliance with federal, state and local regulatory agencies. Direct oversight for on-site HR admins who support local employees with training, benefits enrollment, recruiting, on-boarding, and wellness. The Human Resources Manager will travel up to 25% of the time supporting specific assigned locations and teams.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree is required
* Minimum of 3 -5 years of related experience as a Human Resource Manager. Preferably in manufacturing/industrial.
* Experience leading HR support team preferred.
* Flexibility, independence and collaboration competencies required.
* Ability to travel up to 50% required
* Recruiting/staffing experience required
* Thorough understanding of all human resources principles and practices, including employment law, Affirmative Action and EEO compliance, benefits and compliance and recruitment/retention.

* Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
* Ability to work with all levels of management and develop critical working relationships.
