The Role:
Description:
The HR Manager will be responsible for developing a deep understanding of the business and service lines’ current and future strategy plans and objectives. This role will support Andersen Metro Chicago’s efforts to directly impact strategies to foster talent development, performance management, compensation, inclusion, and workforce planning. The HR Manager will collaborate with business leaders, as well as Centers of Excellence (e.g., Talent Acquisition, National HR, etc.), on talent-related matters and will act as an employee and firm advocate and change agent. Our hybrid workplace (50% in-office expectation) helps us build and maintain our strong culture. This role reports to the HR Director.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with Metro Chicago leadership to support Andersen’s talent management strategy in alignment with firm strategy, to drive consistency across a matrixed organization
- Act as an advisor to employees and leaders on challenging situations by applying comprehensive knowledge in HR and firm policies and procedures
- Build strong relationships and coach leaders on complex performance issues, including collaboration on performance improvement plans (PIP)
- Support employees throughout their career lifecycle by managing the onboarding and offboarding processes
- Coach leaders on how to develop plans for career growth, leadership opportunities, mobility, and succession
- Leverage internal and external data to develop recommendations and conclusions
- Facilitate performance review meetings including mid-year and annual performance, promotion, and compensation recommendations
- Lead or participate in firmwide projects and initiatives
- Assist experienced hire recruiting by generating offer letters
Skills Required:
- Comprehensive knowledge in HR principles, including relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Strong business acumen and business fluency to understand how the firm operates and identify and interpret levers that impact firm performance
- Strong verbal / written communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Understands and can articulate compensation principles and practices with clients
- Effective organization / time management skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Thrives in an ambiguous environment and is a self-starter
- Ability to respond positively to changing circumstances, seek, and implement change to drive business improvement
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 6+ years of related experience
- Human Resources certification – SHRM or HRCI (SPHR/PHR) preferred and required within 12 months of joining the firm
- Professional services or consulting experience desired
