About the Job
The Human Resources Manager/Business Partner provides operational HR support to assigned client companies, including associate relations, performance management, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and general HR policies.
The Human Resources Manager/Business Partner will assist in implementing HR policies, procedures, and systems that focus on attracting, retaining, and developing talent for our multi-state teams. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering excellent internal customer support while fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on HR support for assigned client companies, including performance management, investigations, policy interpretation and application, and ensuring compliance with workplace policies and employment laws for a multi-state employer.
- Manage and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Partner with leadership to coach employees and supervisors on conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and workplace challenges.
- Support performance management programs by monitoring processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring constructive feedback cycles that enhance employee engagement, growth, and development.
- Track and analyze HR data to identify workplace trends and make recommendations to proactively address employee relations challenges.
- Build strong relationships with employees and managers to maintain a positive pulse on employee relations and engagement.
- Collaborate with the recruiting team to support the recruitment lifecycle for assigned client companies, including sourcing, screening, scheduling interviews, and coordinating offers and onboarding.
- Manage and coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, including facilitating benefits training, conducting exit interviews, and providing actionable recommendations based on feedback.
- Communicate new hires, terminations, promotions, salary changes, and other personnel updates to leadership, payroll, and internal teams as needed.
- Assist in developing and delivering HR-related training programs such as Harassment Prevention, Performance Management, and other supervisory training.
- Develop clear and effective employee communications to support HR initiatives and policy updates.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Act with integrity and timeliness in documenting and addressing HR issues or concerns.
- May supervise one or more team members, providing mentorship and direction.
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Requirements:
- At least 5 to 7 years of Human Resource Experience in a progressive, fast paced, professional services environment. Marketing communications/advertising agency experience is ideal.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Psychology, Communication or a related field. Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to “think” and “do”.
- Previous experience in supporting multiple client groups and/or companies at the same time.
- Experience in diverse business settings a plus.
- Experience working in multi-state employer jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all human resources principles and practices, including employment law, EEO compliance, benefits, recruitment/retention, growth planning, legal analyses, conflict resolution, management, program building and staff training.
- Previous experience in developing and managing HR programs
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced in preparing reports and other business communications and presentations
- Skilled in developing and presenting to internal/external groups.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and HRIS programs including applicant tracking and performance management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment as well as strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships that fosters trust.
- Sound judgment, high integrity, problem-solving/analytical skills and the ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information while managing conflicting priorities.
