POSITION OVERVIEW
In 2023, the company was dramatically strengthened by introducing a new ownership team led by CEO Linda Harris. Ms. Harris and her advisors bring decades of government contracting experience to the business, with an unparalleled record of achievement for critical mission clients. Her team's responsiveness, dedication, and intensity have already produced exponential growth in staff, capability, and clients. DEFTEC has tripled in size over the last 24 months. We are seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our rapidly growing team. This role will be a department 1 supported by our responsive management team. We seek a self-starter who embraces change, process improvement, and a commitment to following through on all tasks.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities:
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
- Develop and maintain employee policies and procedures.
- Submit all federal and state-mandated reporting requirements, such as EEO, VETS-4212, and AAP reports.
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the business strategy.
- Support current and future business needs through developing, engaging, motivating, and preserving human capital.
- Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
- Manage DEFTEC's Benefits Administration, including upkeep of enrollment and managing annual Open Enrollment.
- Organize and maintain the SharePoint site and the HRIS for employee files.
- Nurture a positive working environment, supporting employees across multiple time zones.
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
- Support recruiting operations, including reviewing job requisitions and recruiting as needed for vacancies.
- Manage the company onboarding for new employees, including new hire orientation, I-9 verification, and benefit selection assistance.
- Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
- Manage employee relations, lead investigations into workplace issues, and serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in Human Resources supporting a federal government contractor.
- 2+ years of experience as an HR Manager or similar role
- Human Resources experience for a company in multiple states, including California.
- In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
- Demonstrable experience with HR metrics
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases
- Demonstrable Benefits Administration experience
- Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all company levels.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA compliance experience and knowledge of workplace safety regulations and OSHA standards, with hands-on experience ensuring compliance.
- Familiarity with the Service Contract Act (SCA)
- Knowledge of ApplicantPro
- Experience working with Paycom.
- Human Resources experience for a company in multiple states, including California.
- Master's degree
