JOB DESCRIPTION
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management in supporting designated offices. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, ADA & FMLA / leave administration and employment law.
Essential Functions

- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
- Performs transactions in the Human Resources system including but not limited to pay increases, terminations, job changes and transfers.
- Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
- Issues OSHA 300 reports annually; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to OSHA regulations.
- Handles employee relations counseling, management guidance and coaching.
- Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, communicate verbally in front of groups, 1:1 and over the telephone and in email. The employee will also be required to engage in interactive communication with employees, typically hearing and reading / responding to their emails.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, bend and reach open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel
Travel is estimated to be 10% with advance notice for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree and at least three years experience in the HR field, one of which is in general HR.
- PHR or SPHR or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification - desired but not required
