PRIMARY FUNCTION: As the Human Resources (HR) Generalist, you are a key member of the Human Resources Team. The HR Generalist will support the daily function of the Human Resources Department including hiring, onboarding, payroll, performance management, employee relations, School Age Child Care (SACC) compliance and HR administrative duties. The HR Generalist will also ensure that all programs comply and provide onsite support with navigating the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). This position will collaborate with the Director of HR and Programming team to develop and implement operational health and safety monitoring systems that can be fully utilized to meet specifications established by regulatory guidelines.
ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE:
Supervisor: Director of Human Resources
Hours: Full time, Monday – Friday (Hybrid: 3 days a week in office)
Compensation: $65,000 - $70,000 per year
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hiring, Onboarding and Off boarding
Updating job descriptions and working collaboratively with the hiring managers to identify hiring needs.
Posting job listings through the applicant tracking system (JazzHR).
Sourcing and attracting candidates by using the applicant tracking system, college boards, etc.
Conducting Interviews with qualified full-time candidates in collaboration with hiring managers, assessing knowledge and experience.
Conduct stay-interviews, 30-, 60-, 90-days check ins and exit interviews in collaboration with the Director of HR.
Responsible for new hire onboarding process and ensure all new hire documents are in compliance with the USCIS 1-9 form.
Communicating resignation acknowledgements to exiting employees.
Provide updates to the Director of Human Resources regarding new hires and terminations.
Conduct in-person/virtual training for new employees regarding policies and procedures; provide onboarding materials and support to complete the onboarding process.
Payroll
Reviewing and processing organizational payroll and ensuring the final report is processed through the payroll system.
Process all payments for assigned training.
Prepare payroll summary report for review to the Director of HR
Ensuring payroll is completed and submitted in a timely manner so employees are paid on time.
Employee Relations
Update Director of HR on all Employee Relations Matters.
Schedule Investigation interviews.
In collaboration with Director of HR, review and approve Corrective Action.
Record and file all Employee Relations Matters and fully executed Corrective Action.
Administrative Duties
Monthly Headcount and HR reporting
Process employment verification letters.
Maintain employee personal and site files in conjunction with state/federal and DOH requirements timely.
Collaboratively working with the Director of Human Resources and Program Department to ensure regulations outlined in School Age Child Care (SACC) regulated licensed programs are following Department of Health regulations and that of all governing bodies.
Serving as administrative support between DOH and programs to manage correspondence, submission of documents, and ensure full compliance.
Collaborating with Program Managers to complete licensing applications.
In collaboration with the Program Managers conduct in-person visits to ensure program sites are meeting compliance requirements.
Working with the Program Managers to provide training and coaching to create and maintain health and safety compliance on-site.
Actively seeking professional development to stay abreast of changes in compliance codes and regulations.
Reviewing emails to ensure timely resolution.
Updating employee change requests from respective department heads through the HRIS system.
Maintain records, reports and logs to confirm EEO regulations.
Ad-hoc and special projects as needed.
Other special project duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree with a specialization in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field; an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered with extensive specialized experience.
Minimum of (2) years of progressive HR experience in an office setting; Human Resources Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP or higher) or interest is a plus, however, not required.
Minimum of two years of experience working in non-profit, early childhood, and school-age environments preferred.
Knowledge of DOHMH and school-age programming (including DYCD) is preferred.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive, and Google Docs.
Must be able to multi-task, meet set deadlines, and demonstrate effective communication and writing skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to collaboratively work with team members from different departments.
This position requires travel throughout Manhattan, Bronx, and Brooklyn using mass transit or personal vehicle.
